This past weekend we competed at Watkins Glen in the electrathon America race. We won the presentation and were also on television (fox 40 racing)! Overall we had a great time being the first class to race.

Welding the frame
This is our frame that we started to tack weld. Thanks to Smitty's we were able to learn how to weld and then we got help on tack welding it together. We completed the back half, and the front bumper that we will have to redo because our material was too thin and the welder was too strong for the material. We learned how to use a welder, zip wheel, grinder, die grinder, and a chop saw. This was a great learning experience for all of us.

PVC mock-up Frame
The frame group got together and made this mock-up frame out of pvc, so that we could place it into the carbon fiber body and determine if the frame design would be correct. Before we made the pvc mock-up we taped out the outline onto the floor. We had to do this because of the complex geometry of the carbon fiber body.

Final Full Frame Design
This is the full frame assembly with many of our other components like the motor mount, seat, and suspension.
The picture shown is a screenshot of the inventor file we have made so that we can get as precise as possible before we actually have this made. We have done this so that when we do have to make adjustments they will be minor and there will not be as many as if we were to have done this without this software.

Brake Rotor update
We have been able to go and get a template cut at a local laser cutting shop. The picture shown is the template, cut out of paper so that we could line it up to the bolt pattern on the hub. We had to make some slight changes to the design so that the laser cutting shop could cut the design out for us.
